Car crashes into Metro pillar in Hyderabad, 2 dead

Synopsis

Five drunken youth go on joy ride end up dead and as injured in hospital Their car hit a Metro pillar near Chaitanyapuri Along the way they also drove over pavement dwellers' legs

Five youth from Hyderabad attended their friend’s birthday party at LB Nagar on Thursday and while returning hit a Metro pillar, leading to one dead on the spot, another in the hospital and four injured. The dead have been identified as Chaitanya (24) and Srinadh.

The driver, who was drunk, was driving at a speed of 120 kph and the car hit the pavement at Chaitanyapuri, near Dilshuknagar. The Maruti Swift car rammed into metro pillar 14 after doing a couple of somersaults. Since it was hit in the rear, Chaitanya sitting behind died on the spot while Srinadh later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The car before its collision drove over the legs of some beggars sleeping on the wayside making one lame. The driver sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital.

The police investigated the accident scene and after questioning found that the youth had drinks at the party. All the injured were admitted in the hospital and a case was registered and is under investigation.
