In a major drug bust, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials arrested a three-member smugglers gang and seized 55kg of cocaine from them. The members were transporting the contraband to Hyderabad from Karnataka.

The New Indian Express reported that DRI officials acted on a tip-off and intercepted a vehicle bound to Hyderabad from Karnataka. Officials formed separate teams and when the vehicle arrived at Kamkole on the outskirts of Sadasivpet mandal, DRI officials intercepted the vehicle and during the searches, found the cocaine packed in plastic sachets and concealed in the vehicle.

A special team from Hyderabad is investigating the case. The New Indian Express also reports that the district SP S Chandrashekar Reddy of the issue over the phone. However, local police tried to keep the incident confidential.

In a similar incident, Gnaneswar Goud, a 33-year-old man, was caught by the Excise department officials on Thursday for allegedly growing a seven-foot-tall marijuana plant at his residence in Serlingampally.
