Xiaomi launches Mi 5c and Redmi 4X budget smartphones: All you need to know

Synopsis

The 5.15-inch Xiaomi Mi 5c comes with an in-house chipset. Xiaomi is among the few companies with its own chipset.  Xiaomi's Redmi 4X comes with a 5-inch display. 

Xiaomi has unveiled the Mi 5C, an updated version of the Mi 5 that was launched last year.

 

It will sport a 5.15-inch Full HD display. Other specs include 12MP rear snapper, 3GB RAM, fingerprint scanner and 65GB of storage. The highlight of the device is the Surge S1 that powers the device, which is Xiaomi's in-house SoC chipset.

The Surge S1 is an octa-core 64-bit processor clocked at 2.2GHz. It brings improvements such as better call quality and 40 percent more power. The Mi 5c will be selling at 1,499 RMB (approx ₹14,500).

 

Xiaomi has also launched the much talked about Redmi 4X. The Redmi 4X is a sub-₹10000 device that will be available in two variants - 2GB + 16GB model is priced at CNY 699 (roughly ₹7000) while 3GB + 32GB at CNY 899 (approx. ₹8500).

 

The device comes with a 5-inch HD display, Snapdragon 435 processor, 13MP rear and 5MP front cameras, and packs in a 4100mAh battery. There is no word on the availability of the devices. However, India is a key market for Xiaomi, we can expect India launch in the near future.
