Whatsapp, the popular messaging service, may soon come up with a Graphic Interchange Format (GIF) addition to its mobile application.
The new feature was revealed as part of Whatsapp's new beta update on Twitter, with a follower tweeting on June 7: "Changelog of #WhatsApp #beta for #iOS 2.16.7.1 is available now! http://pastebin.com/mh6Fbe7L #GIF #GifSupport #HOTNEWS #whatsappbeta."
According to social media sources, the GIF autoplay feature will run on Whatsapp’s latest iOS beta version 2.16.7.1 and will allow users to embed GIFs in their chats.
Whatsapp has also been working to launch a video calling feature on their mobile application. Both the new updates are expected to be launched soon, as Whatsapp prepares to roll out its new update.
However, the Facebook-owned messaging client has a big challenge to match up to the GIF support offered by its parent company. Its chief competitor Viber has also recently launched GIF support for their messaging service.
