The Healthcare Ministry has rolled out new guidelines for people to book a slot for Covid-vaccines via third-party applications.

The government has decided to share CoWIN platform's APIs with private developers who will create apps like Aarogya Setu with the same service facility.

Before, the third-party applications were supposed to show vaccine status and whether they had openings, but now with the new guidelines, people can register their slots as well. The third-party applications can either be directly provided to citizens or to the private vaccination centre. Either way, you don't have to depend on Aarogya Setu only.

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare took to their Twitter account to announce this arrangement. Here's what functionalities you need to check as reported in GadgetsNow,
"Discover vaccination centre and related information
Schedule appointments
manage vaccination workflow (in the case when such application is offered to CVCs)
Generate or download certificates
report any adverse events after vaccination as per AEFI guidelines."

To register under third-party apps, documents including Aadhaar Card, Driving License, PAN card, Passport, Pension Passbook, NPR Smart card and Voter ID card needed.

As per the guidelines, if a citizen uses Aadhaar Card, the procedure must follow the Aadhaar Act.
