Our lives have gone online. Today, we consume news online, order food online and also watch shows online. Facebook is the biggest social media with a large user base across the world and probably has realised that is the right time to get users glued to the Facebook TV.
Facebook TV is reportedly striving to get some original content onboard. According to a report by Bloomberg, Facebook TV could be on its way and arrive by mid-August, citing source close to the matter. These shows were supposedly slated for June release, but delayed later. Some of its partners include BuzzFeed, ATTN, and Vox Media.

If the news is to be believed than Facebook doesn't want to compete with Netflix or HBO, but wants to make something higher-end than YouTube, says the report. It has asked content creators to push out the first episode quickly so that it can go live next month.
It plans to start with short form content, followed by TV-style shows. Unlike Netflix or HBO, Facebook already has a large base and could be easier to get audiences hooked to its TV service. Netflix was launched in India in January 2016 and Prime Video that is a part of Amazon Prime.
