Synopsis

The social media giant company Facebook has been encouraging Work From Home and working remotely, but as per reports, it may seem like they are chopping off salaries to those employees.

According to BBC's report, Brynn Harrington, Vice President of Facebook's People Growth, said, "We pay based on the local cost of labour in the market. So there will be variability in terms of pay for remote workers, based on where they work." 

For example, if an employee works in California but decides to come back home to India to work remotely. In that case, his salary may get another correction, as per 'local cost of labour'.

But on the contrary, she mentioned in the BBC report that Facebook supports remotely working, and many of their employees are thriving while working from home. They are with their loved ones and working through the day.

But she also mentioned a few employees who are facing alot of trouble in WFH and are desperate to come back to the office. She said, "We are working really hard to do that, as soon as it's safe to open our offices." The CEO has already hinted that 50% of employees may work remotely in the next 5 to 10 years.
