US-based Tamil techie murdered in 'Drishyam' style

Synopsis

Muthukrishnan, a software engineer had come to his hometown in Tuticorin district, from the US, where he was employed, to file a divorce case.  He had befriended a lorry driver and had consumed alcohol together. When he was completely drunk, the driver pushed his car with him inside the water-filled quarry.

The decomposed body of a 42-year-old techie, who went missing in May this year, was recovered from a stone quarry in the district today, police said. 

Muthukrishnan, a software engineer had come to his hometown in Tuticorin district, from the US, where he was employed, to file a divorce case. 

On May 22 last, he had informed his mother that he was going to meet his lawyer at Palayamkottai regarding the case. However, he never returned home, following which a man missing case was filed by his mother. 

On receiving information from the bank where the victim had an account that money was withdrawn using his ATM card, police zeroed in on an ATM kiosk at Palayamkottai and scanned CCTV footage which led to the arrest of a lorry driver from Tirunelveli, who also was a client of the deceased's lawyer. 

Police said he had made friends with Muthukrishnan through a staff at the lawyer's office. 

On the fateful day, Muthukrishanan had consumed alcohol with the accused in a secluded place near Thalayoothu in Tirunelveli district. 

When the victim was drunk, the accused took all his belongings and pushed the car with Muthukrishnan inside, into a water-filled stone quarry, they said. 

Based on the accused's confession, a police team retrieved the decomposed body along with his car from a quarry at Thalayoothu near here.
