The special treatment for Sasikala is true: Prison officials

Synopsis

Sasikala was given five rooms in the prison, apart from a cot, a television and a special kitchen. It was alleged that Rs 2 crore was paid to the DGP for the arrangements. Prison officials seem to have confessed to having provided such facilities to the AIADMK leader.

It was alleged that Sasikala has been given five rooms, cot, bed, television and a separate kitchen inside the prison. It was also alleged that to avail these facilities an amount of Rs.2Cr was paid to the DGP. Following this, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ordered a high-level probe into these alleged irregularities.

The government then transferred both Roopa and Sathyanarayan Rao. Meanwhile, the Public Accounts Committee Meeting of Karnataka Legislative Assembly was held yesterday at the Bengaluru Vidhana Soudha headed by its chairman R. Ashok. Members of the Public Accounts Committee, DIG Revanna and other important personnel participated in this meeting.

It is now said that during the meeting, the prison high officials have agreed that the report submitted by DIG Roopa is true. After the meeting, the Chairman of Public Accounts Committee, R Ashok said, “The reports submitted by Roopa and the members of the Public Accounts Committee seem to match, thus proving the accusation. The prison officials have also agreed that the report of DIG Roopa is true. But, I cannot disclose all the information now. We questioned the prison officials for not fixing the jammer tool inside the prison to prevent the mobile usage. We made many recommendations to the prison department. If only they had carried out those recommendations these violations would not have happened. They are acting in a lethargic way. We have given 15 days of time and demanded an explanation. We have also insisted them to quickly solve the issues inside the prison”.
