The tribals of Tamil Nadu's Dharmapuri district are facing the reality too soon. The fact that the government's home allotment for the ST/ST and the was clear within 5 years when they could not stand the vagary of natural elements and started crumbling.

Close to 120 people of the Pannappatty village near Pennagaram village said that they are left with no other option but to leave for the caves in the mountain areas as heavy rains and winds have destroyed the homes given to them.

The forest department here had constructed close to 30 houses at the village in 1990 for the scheduled tribe people. Speaking to the TOI, a resident said, " those houses started crumbling within five years. The houses are now in a dilapidated condition".
