School bus topples with 18 kids, driver dies of 'cardiac arrest' while fleeing

Synopsis

The 47-year-old driver, Mohammad Batcha, tried to flee the spot but reportedly complained of chest pain while running. When his family rushed to the school in search of him, he was found lying unconscious at a coconut grove near the school. His body has been sent to Tiruttani GH for postmortem.

A school bus with 18 students fell into a ditch and overturned, injuring all the occupants. The 47-year-old driver, Mohammad Batcha, tried to flee the spot but reportedly complained of chest pain while running. A resident of Gopalpuram in RK Pet, he called his son and informed him that he was having chest pain.

When his family rushed to the school in search of him, he was found lying unconscious at a coconut grove near the school. He was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead. 

His body has been sent to Tiruttani GH for postmortem. Meanwhile, residents and passersby broke open the windshield of the bus and rescued the trapped children. All of them were treated as outpatients at a nearby hospital. The incident happened in Ramakrishnarajupet near Tiruttani.
