Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s remarks about reading the Upanishads and Gita to tackle RSS and BJP has led to a war of words between CPI(M) and BJP on Twitter.
Rahul Gandhi, while attending DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi’s 94th birthday celebration on June 3 in Chennai, said, “Nowadays I study the Upanishads and the Gita since I am fighting the RSS and BJP.” He also stated that BJP does not ‘understand India’ and only ‘understands Nagpur’, the headquarters of RSS.
CPI(M)’s TK Rangarajan tweeted “I am reading Upanishads, Gita to take on RSS, BJP: Rahul Gandhi, good.” This met with a reply from BJP national secretary H Raja saying, “If he fully understands them he will join RSS.”
Earlier Rangarajan had tweeted about a disciplinary action against a party member, “Discipline-: CPM suspends RS member Ritavrata MP for' flashy lifestyle ' This is our party” to which H Raja replied, “What about MM. Mani who called Tamil women in Idukki as prostitutes sir.”
When Rangarajan retorted back saying, “Rubbish, you are anti-national. Don't talk about a man who worked for all Indian people,” he was met with a reply from H Raja saying, “Right from Joseph Stalin of Russia, Mao of China, Pol Pot of Cambodia, up to Pinarayi Vijayan - communists have killed nine crore people. Anti-human.”
