There is no sign of sky-high prices of tomato coming down anytime soon. Now the price of 1 kilogram of tomato ranges from Rs 75 to Rs.100.
Hotel owners say that they have been pushed into a situation wherein they are cooking food with very fewer tomatoes.
The homemakers are also finding it very difficult to manage as it is the base for many Indian dishes.
Last year, tomatoes were thrown on the streets due to overproduction, and this is the reason why most of the farmers did not opt for tomato cultivation this year.
Meanwhile, other states have also stopped exporting tomatoes as they did not harvest much due to drought.
So the price of tomato has skyrocketed.
The price will reduce only when there is an increase in the supply in the following weeks.
