National Commission for Women demands Kamal Haasan's apology for revealing molested actress' name

In a recent press conference, actor Kamal Haasan revealed the name of a Malayalam actress who was kidnapped and raped. When the reporters asked him not to mention the name of the victim, Kamal pointed out that the media is also saying her name The Chairperson of National Commission for Women has demanded that the actor should apologize

In a recent press conference, while talking about different matters raging in the film industry, actor Kamal Haasan revealed the name of a Malayalam actress who was kidnapped and raped. When the reporters asked him not to mention the name of the victim, Kamal pointed out that the media is also saying her name and there is nothing wrong in that. He also said if they wanted to call her Draupadi they could call her as Draupadi. 

Like his other statements in the past, his mentioning of the actress’ name has also led to a new controversy.

On Friday, July 14, 2017, Lalitha Kumaramangalam, the Chairperson of National Commission for Women has demanded that the actor should apologize. 

It was also reported that a suo motu action would be taken against him.

In reply to this, actor Kamal Haasan has tweeted, “Apologize, say, women, while I love & fight for them. I will bend to no woman or man for no reason. You are penalizing the lawyer & missing the criminals. If you still want me to apologise I will. No one is above the law, except your gods. God is just a ruse for some.”
