Kodanad murder mystery deepens: Here is what we know so far

Synopsis

Om Bahadur, a security guard at J Jayalalithaa's tea estate in Kodanad near Ooty was hacked to death The police found out that suitcases with documents of Jayalalitha's property worth crores were stolen

Here is a timeline of the events so far.

> On April 23, Om Bahadur, a security guard at Jayalalithaa's tea estate in Kodanad near Ooty was hacked to death by a group, while another guard Kishore Bahadur was injured in the attack. 

> Some locals told the police that they saw eight to 10 men barging into the estate the previous night. Their motive for the break-in and the murder remained unclear.

> Acting on leads, the police arrested three accused from Thrissur and four more from Mallapuram, including main accused Kanakaraj and Sayan.

> The probe team found out that three suitcases with documents of Jayalalitha's property worth several crores were stolen by the group. 

> Kanakaraj, a former driver of Jayalalithaa and one of the main suspects in Om Bahadur's murder, was killed in a road accident when a car hit his bike in Salem on Friday night.

> Sayan alias Shyam, the other main suspect and a close friend of Kankaraj, was seriously injured while his wife and child died in a road accident involving their two-wheeler and a car in Thrissur on Saturday.
