In the Madras High Court, DMK leader MK Stalin said, “Chief Secretary Girija Vaidhyanathan is hiding a letter and a report of Income Tax Department on the Gutka scam".

He further said, Girija Vaidhyanathan has taken up many responsible roles in the government sectors for the past 36 years and she has earned a good reputation. But her recent action has thoroughly shocked me. Is it proper for her to hide the I-T department’s letter on gutka scam? How did she approve to promote a police official who should face a probe in gutka scam?”

He then demanded a CBI probe into the irregularities in promoting T.K. Rajendran.
