Actor Siddharth has said that Tamil Cinema is being punished by the Tamil Nadu government for years. He pointed out the bribes taken by officials to certify films.

Tax exemption is provided for the U rated films by the censor board. The Central Board of Film Certification holds the responsibilities to censor movies and issue certificates. The board members watch the film. Only when they recommended, the TN government would agree for the tax exemption.

Earlier, Producer Udhayanidhi Stalin filed a case against the government for being partial in choosing the films for tax exemption. The judgment ruled in favour of him.

It was also said that they demand bribe for rating the films as ‘U’

A tweet from Actor Sidharth has proved all these speculations.

He has tweeted, “Tamil Nadu government has been punishing Tamil cinema for years with U certificate, bribes for tax free liberties and the Tamil title scams. Now they want 30% +GST? The Tamil Film industry must stand united. We are played by this center-state confusion. GST is one nation one tax! No exceptions!”
