Tokyo Olympics: Dutee Chand fails to qualify for 200m semis, finishes 7th in heat

India's dream for a medal in the track event of athletics in the Tokyo Olympics has taken a hit after top sprinter Dutee Chand finished seventh in her heat, failing to qualify for the semis of the 200m event.

There was no respite for India's poor outing in the track events of the Tokyo Olympics. In the women's 200m event, top sprinter Dutee Chand failed to qualify for the semis after finishing seventh in her heat.

Although Chand clocked her best timing of the season, of 23.85 seconds, she needed something way better than that to secure her semis place. Overall, she was placed 38th among the 41 competitors.

Previously, she had also failed to qualify for the 100m semis too. She had finished seventh in her heat with a clock of 11.54s. Consequently, her stint at this Games has come to an end.
