Pietersen aims at playing for his native South Africa in 2019 World Cup

England Cricket Board dropped the 37-year-old after England’s loss in 2013-14 Ashes. Kevin Pietersen has now expressed that he would represent his native team, South Africa in 2019 World Cup. "I'm going to be playing a lot of cricket in South Africa over the next two years, so we'll see.” said Pietersen.

Kevin Pietersen had a terrible experience with England Cricket Board after England’s loss in 2013-14 Ashes.

Pietersen, the former England right-handed batsman, was unceremoniously dropped from England cricket after Ashes series, and he is now eyeing on coming back to International cricket.

He has expressed that he would be wearing his native South African jersey in the upcoming 2019 World Cup.

He is eligible to play for the South African team in 2019, but the 37-year-old batsman is also concerned about his health, two years down the lane.

Talking to AFP, Pietersen said, "You are talking about in two years' time. Would I? Who knows? We'll have to wait and see where I am."

"I'm going to be playing a lot of cricket in South Africa over the next two years, so we'll see,” he added

"I love batting; I will bat for as long as I love the art of batting. I do at the moment, but I'm an old man now, I've just hurt my calf, I didn't field.”

"Who knows where I'll be in two years' time? If I enjoy batting, we'll see where I get to. I'm in a very happy place."
