In a spectacular Asian Champions League showdown, Al-Hilal's Aleksandar Mitrovic led his team to a convincing 6-0 victory over Mumbai City FC.
In the Asian Champions League, Al-Hilal delivered a resounding 6-0 victory over Mumbai City FC, with Aleksandar Mitrovic scoring a hat-trick. The former Fulham striker struck early, finding the net in the fifth minute from close range, and later extended their lead in the second half.
This dominant performance by Al-Hilal's Mitrovic secured their position as the leaders in Asian Champions League Group D. Their triumph included Mitrovic's early goal, a second-half strike to double the lead, and an impressive overhead kick for the treble, all of which put an end to Mumbai City FC's resilient defense. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic contributed with a third goal in the 75th minute, followed by Mohammed Al Burayk's strike in the 82nd minute, and Abdulelah Al Malki's long-range shot two minutes into added time for the sixth goal.
Mumbai City FC's Dutch midfielder, Yoell van Nieff, expressed disappointment at the 6-0 loss, highlighting the need for better ball retention and acknowledging Al-Hilal's quality on the field.
In the same group, Navbahor also secured victory by coming from behind to defeat Nassaji Mazandaran, with Oston Urunov leveling the score in the 74th minute after Mohammedreza Azadi had put Nassaji in the lead just before halftime. A late own goal by Mehrdad Abdi secured the win for Navbahor.
The race for the knockout rounds continues, with only the 10 group winners guaranteed a spot, and the top three runners-up from both the eastern and western regions also advancing.
