Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India’s former ‘Captain Cool’, literally took to cooling off in between the third India-Sri Lanka ODI at Pallekele. This was after the unruly crowd stopped the play.

Dhoni was on the field with Rohit Sharma, who had already scored a century. India was eight runs away from winning the match. This is when the angry crowd on the grass embankments at Pallekele started throwing in plastic water bottles.

The Sri Lankan fielders near the ropes moved inside the circle, and play came to a halt with the hosts’ team assembling in the middle.

Players were asked to wait while the ground staff tried to clean the vicinity of the boundary and police tried to control the crowd.

MS Dhoni, who was probably bored, or tired, decided to lay down on the lush green grass, which must’ve been soft, and decided to take a nap.

The match resumed later after most spectators had been cleared from the stadium. India won the match and took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series.

But that one instance was enough to set Twitter on fire. Some of the memes have been absolutely hilarious.
