Synopsis

After five seasons with the Mumbai Indians, all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar has been traded to the Lucknow Super Giants for IPL 2026. Ahead of his debut, Tendulkar shared his unique off-field method for handling pressure and his hopes for more consistent opportunities with the new franchise.

Lucknow Super Giants all-rounder and son of legendary batter, Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun Tendulkar, offered glimpses of his off-field life ahead of the team’s opening IPL 2026 match against Delhi Capitals at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Wednesday, April 1.

Arjun spent five seasons with the Mumbai Indians and played only five matches, picking up three wickets at an economy rate of 9.37. Despite being part of the five-time IPL champions from 2021 to 2025, opportunities remained limited before he was traded to Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the 2026 season.

The 26-year-old, who plays for Goa in domestic cricket after switching from Mumbai in 2022, was reportedly traded to the Lucknow-based franchise for INR 30 Lakh, marking a fresh start in his IPL career with increased opportunities. Arjun Tendulkar was often seen as being in the shadow of his father, Sachin Tendulkar, who is serving as a mentor at the Mumbai Indians, with limited opportunities further reinforcing that perception.

Arjun Tendulkar on Managing Pressure

Ahead of the LSG’s IPL 2026 opening match against DC, seam bowling all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar shared his approach to handling pressure in professional cricket. During an interaction with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube show, Arjun was asked how he manages to stay calm despite the high expectations and scrutiny that come with his career.

In response, the all-rounder gave a simple yet personal answer, stating that he spends time with five dogs in Goa, allowing him to relax and stay grounded off the field.

“I have five dogs in Goa that I play with!” Arjun said.

When asked about his circle of friends, the 26-year-old admitted that he does not have many friends from the cricketing world.

“I don’t have cricketer friends; most of my friends don’t play cricket,” Arjun added.

Arjun Tendulkar’s off-field revelations offered a refreshing glimpse into his personality, highlighting how he stays grounded despite the pressures of professional cricket. Despite being the son of the greatest batters in the history of cricket, he continues to keep things simple and focus on improving his game with each opportunity.

Will Arjun Tendulkar Get a Consistent Chance in IPL 2026?

After getting limited opportunities at the Mumbai Indians over the last five seasons, Arjun Tendulkar will look to make a mark and secure a consistent spot in Lucknow Super Giants’ playing XI during IPL 2026. Tendulkar is likely to get consistent opportunities in the upcoming IPL seasons due to his trade deal.

The LSG management is expected to allow Arjun Tendulkar to showcase his all-around skills in the IPL 2026. In the previous Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season, Arjun has shown improved rhythm, scalping eight wickets and scoring 70 runs in five matches, signaling his readiness for bigger opportunities in IPL 2026.

Given his versatility as an all-rounder, Lucknow Super Giants view him as a left-arm pace option who can swing the ball in both ways and contribute handy runs in the lower order. Additionally, Arjun Tendulkar’s ability to open the bowling and occasionally bat at the top in domestic T20 matches makes him a tactically flexible option.

It remains to be seen how LSG will utilize Arjun Tendulkar in IPL 2026, but his versatility and recent form suggest he could become a key asset for the franchise.
