Barcelona making one last attempt to keep Lionel Messi?

Synopsis

Barcelona and Lionel Messi had made it clear last week that they are parting ways. However, a new report suggests that the club is attempting one last attempt to keep the Argentine legend at Camp Nou.

Lionel Messi continues to remain in the headlines, as he is leaving Barcelona after 21 years. While Messi and Barca have both agreed to it, there still seems to be some confusion about whether he is actually going.

Meanwhile, as per a new report from ESPN Argentina, the club is making one last attempt to keep the Argentine legend at Camp Nou. According to the report, Barca president Joan Laporta has offered him a 90th-minute contract for him to accept.

As of now, multiple reports, including French publication L'Equipe, have reported that he is under solid negotiations with French giant Paris Saint-Germain, while his announcement of joining PSG could be made by Tuesday. Furthermore, Spanish outlet Olé has deemed the report a publicity stunt by Laporta, who is currently under scrutiny.

Also, as per Reuters, a member of Barca has filed a case with the French court and the European Commission to block Messi's potential move to PSG. The member has alleged that the French football authorities have allowed PSG to become a force in football by not allowing the Financial Fair Play rules.

As per the FFP, the clubs cannot pay their squads more than their total revenue, while PSG having Messi would breach the FFP regulations. Meanwhile, PSG and Ligue de Football Professionnel are yet to respond to the comments and complaints made by the Barca member.
