The son of legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun, has been picked for the national under-19 team for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.
The team will play five one-day internationals and two four-day matches in Sri Lanka in July.
However, Arjun will play only in the two four-day matches and failed to make it into the five one-day internationals.
“Anjali and I will always support Arjun in his choice and pray for his success,” said Sachin Tendulkar to media.
The four-day squad will be led by Delhi wicketkeeper-batsman Anuj Rawat.
The 18-year-old had garnered much praise in the Australian media as he took four wickets in as many overs at the Bradman Oval and scored a quick-fire 48 runs off 27 balls in the match. He has made it clear that he wants build his own career away from his father's shadow.
