Woman suicide over morphed picture: One arrested

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the suicide of a 21- year-old woman in Salem after her morphed picture was uploaded on Facebook.

"A handloom worker Suresh was arrested for allegedly uploading the morphed pictures of the woman," said Salem SP Amit Kumar Singh. According to Singh, the accused has confessed to his crime. He said that he did so because she had turned down his marriage proposal.

Chemistry graduate A Vinupriya committed suicide, on Monday, after her morphed obscene picture was uploaded on Facebook by unidentified persons.

According to victim's father Annadurai, a complaint was lodged on June 23 but no action was taken by the police. He also claimed that he received a semi-nude picture of his daughter on his mobile following which prompted Vinupriya to end her life.
