
Former Karnataka chief minister SM Krishna was conferred with ‘Rashtra Ratna’ award by Paryaya Pejavar Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji at a function held at Srikrishna Math
In an award ceremony held in Udipi on Monday, Congress leader and former Karnataka chief minister SM Krishna praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "leadership skills" and his efforts to strengthen India's international ties.
“PM Modi has been travelling across the world and has earned a positive reputation for the country. We must support him for the welfare of the nation,” said Krishna
In his speech, Krishna said, “I have served as the foreign minister and I can say that India has struck a good relationship with Russia and the US. Our relationship with China is yet to be reformed."
Talking about the present election system, he said, “Money has a major role in politics. If Narendra Modi can bring a change in this matter, he’ll be hailed by the entire nation.”
He added, “Social reformation is possible only if people are determined to break away from their caste prejudices.”
Reacting to MK Ganapati’s suicide case, he said that the government is not dealing with the case effectively. “During my term as the CM, I faced more serious issues compared to the problems faced the current government.”
He suggested that the government to must undertake measures to reform the police department. “The success of the government depends on the efficiency of its officers.”
Prema Krishna, SM Krishna's wife, was also present at the function.
