In yet another instance of torture in Kerala schools, two sixth standard students were allegedly harassed and slapped by teachers for bringing talcum powder and mirror to school in Kochi.

When teachers came to know that the girls put makeup on during the lunch break at Aasia Bhai School in Mattanchery, they allegedly subjected to torture and harassment.  One of the teachers smeared eyeliner and talcum powder all over the girls' face and made them stand in the scorching sun as a punishment.

Grand mother of Safa Marva, one of the girl students, filed a complaint with the police alleging that the principal and a teacher slapped the girl and made her stand in the sun for over 20 minutes. Even though the students were allowed to sit in the class later, the teachers did not allow them to clean face to harass them mentally, the complaint said.

Safa Marva was later admitted to a hospital in Mattanchery. The school principal, however, denied the allegations. The teachers only questioned and scolded the girls for bringing make up materials to school, she said.
