Telangana soon to get 5 new districts

Synopsis

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao directed the officials to issue a draft notification for creation of new districts in the state.

 

Rao, who held a review meeting with senior officials, said that the new districts should come into existence by Dussehra (October 11), an official release said.

 

He also asked the officials to issue the notification before the third week of this month.

 

"The Chief Minister has also appointed a cabinet sub-committee which will submit a report on the suggestions with regard to the creation of new districts," the release said.

 

The sub-committee will be headed by Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali.

 

 The CM wanted to hold a cabinet meeting before issuing draft notification and also to convene an all-party meeting on the subject, the release said.

 

Telangana currently has ten districts and the government is planning to create up to 15 more.
