SIT's next big challenge: Recovering smartphone with actress's visuals

Synopsis

Police recovered a mobile phone and a tablet from the Coimbatore hideout The SIT, however, is not sure whether these devices were used to capture the visuals of the actress.

After successfully arresting all the suspects in the abduction of the popular Mollywood actress, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is now after the crucial digital evidence in the case. The police are yet to recover the mobile phone used to capture defamatory visuals of the actress and the memory card.

Key accused Pulsar Suni is evidently misleading the SIT and is giving a confusing response to questions on where he kept the mobile phone and memory cards, which would prove very crucial in the further investigation. The government had given strict instructions to the inquiry team to recover the digital evidence immediately. It also instructed the team to be extremely cautious that the visuals should never be leaked.

On Sunday morning, the SIT took Pulsar Suni and his aide to Coimbatore and to the place where the duo hid in the days after the incident.  The investigators recovered a smartphone and a tablet. The SIT, however, is not sure whether these devices were used to capture the visuals of the actress.

Earlier, Pulsar Suni had told the police that he threw the mobile phone into a drainage canal at Vennala, in Kochi. Though the police searched the location, they couldn't find anything. Later, he disclosed that he abandoned the mobile phone in a river. But the police have not taken these statements seriously, because of his constantly changing remarks.

The devices recovered from Coimbatore will be handed over to forensic experts for detailed examination. Meanwhile, the police found that the documents of the Pulsar bike used by the main accused to reach near the magistrate court in Kochi last week were fake. The culprits used a stolen bike.
