Sales tax sleuths seize 82 lakh worth bath fittings smuggled from Bengaluru

Synopsis

The accessories were brought from Bengaluru. The vehicle was intercepted at Kozhikode.

The intelligence wing of  Commercial Sales tax department has seized 82 lakh worth costly bathroom accessories during a search operation in Kozhikode. The expensive fittings were being transported from Bengaluru without proper documents.  

 


The products were brought to Kerala hidden inside cartons. Officers say the goods were brought without being subject to declaration at Muthanga check post at Wayanad and Karnataka check posts in Karnataka. Police have detained the driver of the vehicle in which the accessories were brought. 

 


In his statement, the driver has told police that he did not know the details of the consignment and did not know for whom the bath fittings were brought. 

 


Investigators are now trying to trace the owner of the vehicle from the documents recovered from the vehicle.
