Two Right to Education (RTE) activists were taken into custody on Wednesday night after protesting against a city school after it allegedly charged excess fees from the students. Both the activists were arrested after the school authority claimed that they harassed them. However, the activists say that they are being framed for protesting against the school.
It all started when over 50 parents staged a protest outside St Anthony Public School in Kurubarahalli after the parents alleged that the school authority charged excess fees from the students.
According to reports, during the protest, there were heated arguments between the parents and the school management. Later in the evening, school authorities filed a complaint with the Mahalakshmi Layout police followed by which the city police arrested two parents Sureshkumar and Kempegowda.
According to RTE task force member Nagasimha G Rao, the school was demanding over ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 from RTE students and the parents were protesting against the injustice. However, it is being alleged the school filed a false complaint in order to control them.
