Robbers abduct and kill Malayalee fuel station employee in Oman

Synopsis

John Philip, a fuel station employee, who was abducted by unidentified assailants on 10 June in Oman was found dead at Al Buraimi, 400 Kms from Muscat.

The Royal Oman Police authorities recovered the body of Philip from Masrooq on Thursday.  They assume that the robbers must have abducted Philip when he resisted the attempt to loot the fuel station and murdered him later.

Hailing from Mannarkadu in Kottayam, Philip has been missing from his workplace near Al Buraimi road, 400 kms away from Muscat since last Friday. His colleague, who reached the fuel station for duty on Saturday, noticed that Philip was missing. He had also found blood stains on the floor and the office vandalised.

Philip was in charge of the petrol station on the night when the robbers raided it. There are unconfirmed reports that the police have detained three persons in connection with the incident.
