Actress's abduction: Probe team gets vital clue from Pulsar Suni's gangmate

Synopsis

Manikandan was in the Tempo Traveller that chased and intercepted the car travelled by the actress on Friday night.

The interrogation of Manikandan, a member of the goonda gang that abducted popular Malayalam actress on Friday night, has provided some vital clues to the investigation team, which is yet to nab the prime suspects in the case. But the contradictions in his statements are giving a tough time to the team.

Manikandan was in the Tempo Traveller that chased and intercepted the car travelled by the actress on Friday night. He was also the first one to forcefully enter the car of the actress, reports quoting police sources said. The Tempo Traveller was driven by Pulsar Suni, the key suspect in the abduction case.

Claiming innocence, Manikandan told the police that he was not aware of the plot to abduct the actress. He realised that the target was a prominent actress only when the entered the car. Suni hired him offering money for the job. He also claimed that he had not assaulted the actress.  Though Manikandan claimed that he was not aware that his team was going to abduct a film star, the investigators have not taken it at face value.

Police picked up Manikandan from Palakkad the other day. There were reports that Manikandan and Pulsar Suni had a quarrel in their Coimbatore hideout when the former urged him to surrender before the police. But the police have not confirmed these reports.

Meanwhile, massive search operations are on in Ernakulam and Alappuzha districts to nab Pulsar Suni, who went into hiding after assaulting the actress on Friday night.
