## 1993 – Paneer became the Deputy Secretary of Periyakulam MGR youth wing.
## 1996 – Periyakulam town council got Paneerselvam as their president.
## 1997 – OPS was made the Secretary of the Theni district MGR youth wing.
## 1998 – This was for the second time that Paneerselvam became the Party Secretary of Periyakulam town.
## 2000 – He became the Secretary of Theni district as well.
## 2001 – O Paneerselvam won the election and became the MLA from Periyakulam.
## 2004 – He was made the Secretary of the AIADMK’s election wing.
## 2006 – His popularity was ever-rising. OPS became the MLA from Periyakulam town for the second time.
## 2007 – O Paneerselvam was made the Party Treasurer.
## 2017 – AIADMK chief removed him from that post with immediate effect after OPS alleged that he was forced to step down from the post of the Chief Minister.
