Karnataka farmers unite to hold conference in Mandya on Sep 19

Farmers of eight districts will unite in Mandya to hold a mega protest conference on Monday The federation will plan protests in various phases to find a permanent solution to the Cauvery problem.

Farmers of eight districts will gather in Mandya to hold a mega protest conference on Monday, September 19.

 

Speaking to media, Kannada Sene leader Manjunath said that Cauvery Kanive Raitha Okkoota( a federation of Cauvery basin farmers) has been formed with farmers of eight districts coming together. The September 19 conference will be held under the banner of this newly-formed federation.

 

“Members of Parliament, MLAs and MLCs from Karnataka are raising their voices against releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. The farmers of Mandya, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Ramanagar, Tumakuru, Bengaluru and Kodagu have formed Cauvery Basin Farmers Federation to support these voices,” he said.

 

The federation will plan protests in various phases to find a permanent solution to the Cauvery problem.

 

Manjunath said the people’s representatives should take part in the conference. If they abstain, the federation will take its own course to fight for the Cauvery water.
