Lokayukta raids BBMP officials' offices and homes

The Lokayukta police on Thursday raided the offices and residences of three BBMP engineers and contractors in connection with a multi-crore scam which was unearthed in 2014.
Offices and residences of Maltesh, Executive Engineer of BBMP West Division, M Kempegowda, Executive Engineer of BBMP South Division, I K Vishwas, Assistant Executive Engineer of BBMP and Venkateshamurthy and M R Jayaram- both contractors and close aides of the legislator were raided.
“The purpose of the raid was to know why the BBMP files were kept in the residence of the MLA’s wife and whether there were any efforts to cover up the scam.The total number of irregularities is yet to be assessed and the raids will continue,” an official told The New Indian Express.
The scam came into light in 2014 after 900 files of various works under progress in Rajarajeshwarinagar Assembly Constituency were found at the Vyalikaval residence of Congress MLA Munirathna’s wife Manjula. Followed by which the Lokayukta police had registered an FIR under the Prevention of Corruption Act against BBMP executive engineer Idaya Vendon, his office clerk Shailaja, Vishwas and three private contractors.
