KSU march turns violent; eight students injured in police action

Synopsis

The scuffle broke out when the police tried to stop the KSU activists from entering the Secretariat premises. The protesters then tried to break the temporary barricade erected in front of the gate following which the police used water cannons to disperse the crowd. Though the students back tracked for some time, they returned after a while and entered into an argument with the police that turned to clash followed by the caning.

The march was organised to support a sit-in organised by Congress in front of  University College to condemn the alleged attack on its activists by Students Federation of India (SFI) at University College.
