Kidnapped Kerala engineer Regi Joseph rescued in Libya

Synopsis

Kerala resident Regi Joseph, who was kidnapped in Libya, has been released. He was abducted, along with three colleagues, by anti-government rebels on 31 March this year. 

 

External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj announced that Raji Joseph, an IT engineer from Kerala, who was abducted in civil war-torn Libya, has been rescued thanks to the efforts Indian Ambassador Azar A H Khan and the Indian Embassy in Libya. 

 

43-year-old  Joseph was working in the Libyan capital Tripoli, as a computer engineer for two years. He was assigned to a project for the Civil Registration Authority and was abducted on the way to the office from Souk-al-Jumaa. His office had informed his wife, Shinuja, who works as a nurse in Libya about the abduction. 

 

Joseph is from Koorachundu in Kozhikode district.
