Kerala has the second highest number of colleges in the 100 best art and science colleges list published by Ministry of Human Resources Development. Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode scored fifth in the list of top ten management institutes in the country.
Of the 14 colleges chosen from Kerala, Christ College, Irinjalakkuda ranks first with 18th rank in the list published by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). The college scored 52.62.
Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Ernakulam came second among the colleges from the state with 52nd rank while Sacred Heart College, Thevara came third with 28th rank.
Jose Thekkan, Christ College principal, said this is the result o joint efforts of teachers and students. "I feel really happy about the achievement. This is the first time we came in NIRF ranking. Becoming the best college in Kerala is definitely a matter of pride. It is the result of the collective effort of students, management and staff, he said.
Tamil Nadu came first on the list with 37 best colleges in the country.
Indian Institute of Science bagged the first place in NIRF list while next four positions were bagged by Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Bombay, Kharagpur and Delhi respectively.
