Case against Congress MLA for bribing voters

Synopsis

 

Police have registered a case against  CP Mohammed, United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate at Pattambi for bribing voters during campaign. 

 

The case was registered after obtaining consent from Pattambi Magistrate. Muhammed, the sitting MLA of the Congress, is booked for crimes under section 171 (B) and (E) of Indian Penal Code. If the charges against him were proved, Mohammed would face disqualification. 

 

Earlier, the left parties had approached district collector and Election Commission raising allegations that Mohammed was indulging in "corrupt electoral practices" after the footage of Mohammed bribing voters during the campaign was posted on the Facebook wall of CPM leader Pinarayi Vijayan.
