Bengaluru police now fine auto driver for not wearing helmet!

Synopsis

Slapping strange helmet-related notices is not new to Bengaluru’s traffic police. Once, they had issued a notice to a car owner, for his ‘pillion rider’ not wearing a helmet, whatever that meant. One can only imagine what the car owner made of it.

Now, the traffic police have sent a notice to an auto rickshaw driver, Akbar, stating that he was not wearing his helmet while driving near Marappanapalya Bus Stand, near Yeshwantpur, Bengaluru. When Akbar contacted the traffic police, he was told that he was sent the notice for violating traffic norms at Hosaguddadahalli Junction, on Mysore Road.

He then told the police that it was not a two-wheeler, but an autorickshaw they served the penalty notice to. The authorities conceded that the notice had been erroneously sent.
