Police personnel should find a solution to their problems through a dialogue with higher officials, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah warned, adding that strict action would be taken against those who resort to protests.
CM Siddaramaiah was addressing the media after a meeting with higher police officials.
The president of an accredited association of police has called for a mass protest on June 4. According to rules, police personnel cannot stage protests. They have the responsibility of protecting the people, property of the state and maintaining law and order situation. They should not inconvenience people by not performing their duties, he said.
Speaking about the problems faced by the police personnel, Siddaramaiah assured to hold talks and fulfil their demands. “If you have any problems, approach the government directly. We will solve your problems,” he said.
I still hope that police personnel will prefer to be disciplined and will not take part in the mass leave and protest. If you still want to go ahead and stage a protest, the government is bound to take necessary actions, he warned.
