Karnataka: Govt-provided milk ends up in black markets

Synopsis

Milk powder supplied under Ksheerabhagya scheme in government schools is sold in black market. After a daily report, the district authority is seeking CID investigation.

The district authority of Belagavi has asked the state government to handover the case of black marketing of milk powder to CID.

On January 24, Kannada Prabha, for the first time reported the smuggling of milk powder, supplied to the government schools under ‘Ksheerabhagya’ scheme.

Kannada Prabha had written a detailed report about the gang, which was selling the milk powder to outside states.

Now in response to that report N Jayaram, Deputy Commissioner of Belagavi District, has recommended the government to hand over the case to CID, since this is an inter-state case.

Belagavi Police have arrested 5 people who were involved with this smuggling.
