In big relief for techies, Bengaluru’s tallest skywalk inaugurated

Synopsis

The skywalk has a height of 160 metres. Manyata Tech Park has borne the entire expenses of ₹6.8 crore for the project. The tech park has proposed to build a flyover in the area too.

 

     

    Manyata Tech Park has borne the entire expenses for the construction of the skywalk, which was estimated to be ₹6.8 crore. Agriculture Minister Krishna Bhaire Gowda, who is also the local legislator, inaugurated the skywalk. In his inaugural speech, Gowda sought the cooperation of Bengalureans for any inconveniences faced during development work undertaken by the government. Mayor G Padmavati, BBMP Commissioner Manjunatha Prasad, Jitu Virvani, chairman of Manyata Business Park, and BBMP corporators were present at the inauguration.

     

    The details of the Manyata Skywalk

    Total cost: ₹6.8 crore

    Total number of users per day: 19,000

    Number of escalators: 2 (1 escalator leads to Manyata Tech Park and the other to the service road)

    Measurement: 160 metre high, 3 metre wide

    Number of vehicles that move in Nagavara junction: 15,000-20,000

    Number of employees in Manyata Tech Park: 95,000

     

    The government has announced plans to build 85 skywalks across Bengaluru. In the first stage, approval was granted for the construction of 12 skywalks, of which seven have been completed.

     

    Manyata Tech Park has also submitted a proposal to the government for the construction of a flyover at Nagavara junction. The tech park has also assured that it is going to bear the expenses of the flyover, which is estimated to be around ₹70 crore.
