The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting convened by the Siddaramaiah government on Wednesday, said Law Minister TB Jayachandra.
Speaking to media he said, “We identified the drought-affected taluks according to the parameter given by the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre.”
According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre parameters, a taluk can be declared drought-hit if it receives a 20 percent deficit in usual rainfall, if the land does not have 50 percent moisture, dry weather for four weeks continuously or loss of at least 33 percent crop in the total yield area.
