In an unusually 'big' defamation case, the Jet Airways sought damages worth ₹1,000 crores from investigative journalist Josy Joseph for alleging that the company's founder had links with gangster Dawood Ibrahim. Another case of ₹1,000 has been slapped on Outlook India for publishing an extract of the book.
The case pertains to the references in his book 'A Feast of Vultures,' that points to the alleged links between Jet Airways founder-chairman Naresh Goyal and underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
The book states that Intelligence Bureau (IB) former chief KP Singh and former joint director Anjan Ghosh had in 2001 wrote to Union Home Ministry confirming the links between the don and Goyal.

In a recent interview with Asianetnews.tv, Joseph, who has his roots in Kerala, had stated that his book was the end product of a decade-long research. Every allegation in the book is backed by legal and other documents. He also said he was prepared for any legal battle. The book, published by Harpin Collins had been vetted a couple of times by legal experts, he added.
Speaking to Scroll, Joseph said that he was the father of a 13-year-old girl and he would rather set an example for her than let his friends in the industry be happy or be scared of someone. "I'm ready for it, if there is any litigation, I think it would be a great fight to have," he added.
