Jayalalithaa diagnosed with 'Pneumonia': Source

Synopsis

Jayalalithaa had reportedly faced difficulty in breathing on Wednesday. Jaya’s niece was 'stopped and the gate' of the hospital and was not allowed to see her aunt.

A source at Apollo hospital in Chennai told Asianet Newsable that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa was diagnosed with Pneumonia yesterday. After Jayalalithaa had faced difficulty in breathing on Wednesday, she was immediately treated for the same, said the source.

She was being treated in the Critical Care Unit, and her medical condition was said to be improving, the source added. The source, citing a doctor’s report, said that Jayalalithaa was also treated for the multiple infections.

Earlier today, Jayalalithaa’s niece was reportedly 'stopped and the gate' of the hospital and was not allowed to see her aunt. The hospital earlier this week had announced that the CM was responding well to the treatment. The 68-year-old AIADMK leader is being treated on the second floor.

Only patients or a staff member of the famous hospital are allowed to go in after showing an identity card. The entire hospital has turned into a high-security zone.
