The protest against the ban on Jallikattu has intensified in the state of Tamil Nadu. Now, Marina Beach has become the symbol of Tamil culture and tradition as protesters in large numbers have gathered here. People from all walks of life, including students, IT professional, bank employees, businessmen, actors, filmmakers, and singers can be seen at this famous beach protesting against the SC ban on the bull taming sport.
Over the past couple of days, the Jallikattu ban led to a mass movement that has seen lakhs of people coming out of road to protest against it at various cities in the state. A day after the arrest of 200 protesters in Alaganallur, Madurai, Marina Beach became the unofficial protest ground with a massive number of protesters gathering here.
Interestingly, politicians have been kept away from Marina Beach and leaders including DMK’s MK Stalin and nationalist leader Seeman were asked to leave. As of now, 10 representatives have been selected to lead the talks with the Tamil Nadu government. Playback singer R J Hasini and a deputy manager in a private bank are the two among the 10 representatives.
