It’s raining fish in Andhra Pradesh (Really)

Synopsis

The fish, which came with the rains in Tanuku, West Godavari district on Sunday evening between 3 pm and 4 pm, were strewn all over the village. Sensing an unexpected meal, people rushed outside with buckets to bring home as much dead fish as possible.

Residents seemed happy to collect the fish, which they considered as a boon from the skies above.

Reacting to the news, fishing expert Shivaprakash said that the tornadoes over the sea tended to suck up fish as they pass over the water. The fish, which are carried by the water-laden clouds over land, come down with the rains, making it look like the fish were dropped from the sky.

He says these kinds of instances hint the drastic changes in the atmosphere in the past few years.

Last year, a similar incident was reported from Gollamudi village of Nandigama Mandal near Vijayawada.
