Indian national face racist rant in New Zealand

Synopsis

This is not the first incident when Indian nationals are facing racist rant in New Zealand The incident happened while Narindervir Singh was filming from inside his vehicle Bikramjit Singh, another Punjab native, faced similar abuse

An Indian national was subjected to racist tirade and was told to return to his country during a road rage incident in Auckland, in New Zealand. Narindervir Singh, who is a resident of New Zealand, streamed the video live onto facebook.

The incident happened while he was filming from inside his vehicle, last week. "I gave him a space... that lady gave me the finger. He was driving that car [pointing to a white Holden] and now he’s trying to threaten me, giving me bad names,” Singh said in the video.

He then informed the driver that he was uploading the video and then situation escalated. He was abused, sworn at and was told to go back to his own country. The abuser also made derogatory remarks on Punjabi people.

Singh then drove of from the place and through it was all over. But after he parked on a nearby street the abuser pulled up once again and continued the racist rant.

This is not the first incident when Indian nationals are facing racist rant in New Zealand. Last week, Bikramjit Singh, another Punjab native, faced similar abuse at a Papatoetoe storage facility. A man yelled at Bikramjit claiming that he was speeding. "Slow down! Go back to your country. You know what the speed limit is here." the abuser said.

Bikramjit, who is a New Zealand citizen, said he was not speeding and have been living there for more than a decade.

The abuser later apologised to Bikramjit in an email and put the blame on the alcohol he had consumed for the incident.
